Candida Treatment and Exercise: How to Make It Work

In our last post, we gave you some good motivation for starting an exercise program.

But, there's more to Candida treatment and exercise that you might think.

When we are suffering from the symptoms of Candida—indigestion, bloating, fatigue, brain fog, depression—we don’t exactly feel like getting out there and running a 10k. We don't feel like doing anything, really. When this is the case, we are not only suffering from lack of exercise; we are probably also suffering from social isolation. So what to do?

Start slowly and find friends

If you haven’t exercised for some time (or ever), start slowly. Find a leisurely walking or bicycling group. When the weather permits, join others who go bird-watching, bicycling, kayaking, or for gentle hikes in the woods. Check Facebook or Meetup for groups that meet on a regular basis, doing something that interests you. Doing things in a group offers motivation and support. You might even make some new friends!

Take a class

Group support again! And if you haven’t exercised for a while, a knowledgeable teacher can help you with your form, which is important when you are just learning. Check local studios or fitness clubs like the YMCA and YWCA for yoga, Pilates, water aerobics, weights, or kettlebell classes.

See what your area offers

During warmer months, many cities sponsor activities like family bike rides, free Zumba classes, ballroom dancing, and other events in local parks. Area historical societies may offer walking tours of local sites. In the winter, nature centers may sponsor snow-shoeing and cross-country skiing classes for a small fee that includes equipment rental. Parks and recreation departments, local libraries, and even churches often offer fitness classes.

Use the Internet for connecting and moving, not just “web surfing”

The downside of the Internet is the temptation of sitting in front of it for long periods of time – but it is a great connector. You should be able to discover a variety of interesting activities just by checking out websites and joining groups.

Plan ahead, then do it

We all have days when we just don’t feel like exercising. But once we get going, it feels great! Anticipate these days, and make a plan ahead of time. If you know that Fridays after work are when you feel like a couch potato, make plans early in the week to meet with a friend for a leisurely walk, a Zumba class, or a racquetball game. Now you are committed, and it will be easier to follow through.

One of the beautiful things about our Candida-fighting products is that using them helps us regain the energy to DO some of the fun things we used to do—or to try something new.
