Should I Follow the Candida Diet to Treat Candida Yeast Overgrowth?

The Candida Diet itself is simple: eat a modest amount of selected proteins and lots of green vegetables and salads. What could be so hard?But it’s not hard—it’s impossible! Why? Because You can’t slip up once! Not even one little bit! The idea behind the Candida Diet is to literally starve the candida yeast organisms living in your body. Practitioners who recommend the diet say that if you don't adhere to the diet WITHOUT ANY CHEATING for six months, it does not work. Forbidden Foods on the Candida Diet

  • Sugar and artificial sweeteners: Aspartame, agave, cane sugar, corn syrup, honey, maple syrup, molasses and table sugar.

  • Fruit (high-sugar): Bananas, figs, grapes, cherries, peaches and mango. Any dried fruit (dates, raisins)

  • Grains and baked goods: Wheat, rye, barley and spelt  and anything made from them

  • Starchy vegetables: Potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, beans (except green), peas, lentils

  • Deli meats (salami, bologna, lunch meat)

  • Farm-raised fish

  • Refined oils and fats

  • Condiments: Ketchup, soy sauce, white vinegar, BBQ sauce, horseradish or mayonnaise

  • Dairy: Cheese, milk and cream

  • Nuts and seeds higher in mold: Peanuts, cashews, pecans and pistachios.

  • Caffeine, alcohol and sugary beverages: Caffeinated teas, coffee, energy drinks, soda, fruit juice, lemonade, beer, wine or spirits.

  • Additives: Nitrates or sulfates.

  • Some Fermented Foods

The Candida Diet is a relic of the 1980s and persists to this day because at one time in history there was simply no other way to fight candida.

It began with the publishing of two books by the early "Candida Doctors". These pioneers identified the culprit of Candida yeast overgrowth and learned how it begins and grows. They developed the Candida Diet to starve it out. There was no other way!
